CELEBRATE THE MOMENTS

Sheetrock!!! FINALLY!

As many of you know, we are in the process of building a new studio and we are SO excited about it!  It is going to be beautiful and functional and FABULOUS...BUT it has taken a bit longer than we anticipated, just like in any construction project.  It probaby seems longer than it is in actuality though because I can sit by my computer in my temporary space and watch across the parking lot as they build the new space....and as they say, "a watched pot never boils".  But this past week I have watched as workmen hustled and bustled to get our sheetrock up.  They are movin!  All of our sheetrock is up and we are on our way to being in the new space very soon.  So....I thought I would give you a sneak peak of the space, even though it is in full-on contruction mode!

There are lots of other rooms to share, but quite frankly, they all just look like white boxes at this point, so I will have to keep you updated as construction gets a bit further and you can tell the difference between them!

Fabulous Florida Fun

I spent the first week of February with a great group of photographers for the PROPS convention in Orlando.  I spoke to the group about creativity, marketing, lighting, posing and Photoshop and can say that I have never had such a enthusiastic audience.  Because I am a member of this group, I stayed for the whole convention and it was so much fun.  We learned, we laughed, we sang a little karaoke, but most of all, it was great to be re-energized and inspired from such great people. 

Oh yes....did I mention the karaoke???

Thanks again to everyone at PROPS!  you were all so fun, inspiring, and hospitable!  I think one of the coolest things about being a photographer is the amazing people I get to meet in our industry!

The Gift of Darby

Every now and then, I am fortunate enough to have a client whose story touches me.  Melanie and Nick are such clients.  When Melanie came in for her maternity portraits, I thought it was going to be just like all my other pregnancy sessions.  But then Mel started to tell me her story.  Melanie and Nick were there to cherish this pregnancy, to capture each second of it.  She had lost twins in her previous pregnancy and this time she was going to record every moment of life, even in the womb.  So this session became just a bit more poignant than any other maternity session for me.  You see, the love I could see in Melanie's face was a love for the baby she carried, and a loving memory for the two she lost.

Melanie and Nick had a very healthy baby boy named Darby.  I am thrilled to say that he has been in to visit me a number of times in the first 9 months of his life.  He is so stinkin' cute, and probably one of the most loved babies I know.  See....he's a gift.  He's Melanie and Nick's angel baby.

So I thought I would share a few of Darby's images.  I am blessed to be able to share these moments with my clients.  I have a great job!!!
